HDPE Airbox — Heat Protection That Lasts
The OEM WRX airbox uses a plastic housing that sits in a warm section of the engine bay, allowing engine heat to affect intake air temperature. MST’s HDPE airbox is specifically shaped to isolate the filter from hot air sources and draw in cooler air, which means the performance benefit of a cold air intake holds up over longer driving sessions rather than fading as the engine bay heats up.

152mm High-Flow Filter
MST specifies a 152mm filter for this intake — larger diameter than the OEM filter, which provides both a greater filter surface area and reduced intake resistance. The increased surface area also extends service intervals: MST recommends cleaning every 20,000 km and replacement at 60,000 km, well beyond typical OEM filter change intervals. The filter is reusable and can be cleaned and re-oiled.

Direct Fit — No Tune, No Modifications
The MST intake bolts directly to the factory airbox mounting locations and retains the OEM MAF sensor. Because the MAF sensor is carried over, the engine management system reads the increased airflow correctly without requiring a reflash or tune. This makes it a clean, reversible upgrade — the factory airbox can be reinstalled at any time.
