The IAG 1000 FA24 Short Block is IAG’s flagship engine foundation for the 2022-2024 Subaru WRX (VB), rated to 1000 BHP with supporting modifications. Starting with new Subaru FA24 2.4L WRX case halves, IAG machines the block to accept their closed deck inserts, bores and hones to 94.25mm, and assembles with a new FA24 heat-treated WRX crankshaft, IAG-Spec +2mm H-Beam forged connecting rods with ARP fasteners, IAG-Spec JE FSR 2618 forged pistons with electroless nickel plating and H13 tool steel wrist pins, and ACL or King race bearings. The block is machined for IAG’s Fire-Lock sealing system and 14mm head studs.

IAG’s FA24 Closed Deck System
The FA24 2.4L engine in the VB WRX uses a similar open deck architecture to the EJ and FA20 predecessors, and IAG’s closed deck conversion addresses the same structural vulnerability — cylinder wall flex under elevated boost. IAG machines the FA24 case halves using the same Haas VF-4SS process and thermal press-fit method, and inserts include coolant passages to maintain deck surface cooling.
Fire-Lock Sealing and 14mm Head Stud Machining
The FA24 block is machined for IAG’s Fire-Lock sealing system and 14mm head stud fitment. Fire-Lock separates combustion sealing from fluid sealing with a dedicated fire ring that drops into a machined counterbore at each cylinder — proven across IAG’s EJ and FA20 competition programs. Fire-Lock gaskets and 14mm head studs are sold separately.
Upgraded Pistons for the FA24
The IAG-Spec JE FSR 2618 forged pistons for the FA24 include electroless nickel plating, thicker ringlands than factory spec, and H13 tool steel wrist pins — all addressing failure modes at high power output.
