The GrimmSpeed Top Mount Intercooler for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX, 2004-2021 STI, and 2004-2008 Forester XT replaces the factory TMIC with an upgraded core that provides improved charge cooling across the EJ-series platform. The EJ-series turbocharged engines in the GD WRX, STI, and Forester XT all use the same fundamental TMIC placement above the engine. The factory unit is conservatively sized for OEM power levels , any modification that increases boost pressure or throttle use quickly exposes its limitations. Heat soak occurs within a few hard pulls and power delivery becomes inconsistent.

GrimmSpeed’s TMIC uses a larger core volume to absorb more heat before charge temperatures rise to problem levels. The geometry is maintained for direct bolt-in installation , no adapters, no custom piping, the same connection points as the OEM unit.
