The Cobb TMIC upgrade replaces the factory top mount intercooler with a larger-core unit that provides improved charge air cooling capacity within the stock intercooler position. The factory TMIC core is sized conservatively for stock boost levels — as calibration work pushes boost targets higher, the factory core becomes increasingly limiting. The Cobb TMIC upgrade’s larger core handles higher boost levels with lower charge air temperatures, enabling the Accessport TMIC OTS maps to target more aggressive calibration than is safe with the factory unit.
Charge Pipe Inclusion and Accessport TMIC Map Compatibility
The Cobb TMIC uses the factory mounting points and hood scoop interface — no modification to the hood or scoop is required. The charge pipe included in the kit routes correctly for the platform without custom fabrication. For builds that eventually progress to a full NexGen Stage 2 front mount intercooler system, the TMIC upgrade is a meaningful intermediate step that improves charge cooling while retaining the factory intercooler position. Accessport TMIC OTS maps are calibrated for the upgraded core.
