The Cobb Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX and 2004-2007 STI is a full-titanium exhaust system for the GD-generation Subaru platform. Titanium provides exceptional corrosion resistance alongside its primary advantage: it is approximately 45 percent lighter than equivalent stainless steel tubing of the same wall thickness. On a cat-back exhaust system, this weight reduction is meaningful and located behind the rear axle, where reducing unsprung and tail weight improves vehicle dynamics beyond the exhaust’s primary performance function. The titanium tips display the characteristic heat-induced blue and gold coloring that develops with use — a visual signature of genuine titanium construction that cannot be replicated with coating.

Heat-Blued Tips, Weight Reduction, and GD-Specific Fitment

The cat-back exhaust connects at the catalytic converter outlet and runs through the mid-pipe and resonator section to the rear muffler and exhaust tips. Cobb designs the entire system as a matched assembly — the mid-pipe diameter, resonator volume, muffler packing, and tip size are all specified together to achieve a particular sound character and backpressure target. The result is a system that sounds intentional rather than arbitrary: louder and more purposeful than stock without the drone that comes from a muffler delete or an inadequately designed resonator section.
