Design and Construction
The Cobb Redline Carbon Fiber Intake uses carbon fiber for the airbox structure, providing lower thermal conductivity than aluminum or plastic. Carbon fiber transfers heat from the surrounding engine bay into the enclosed intake air poorly compared to metal structures — this reduces heat soak into the intake air during sustained high-performance driving or track sessions where engine bay temperatures rise. Cooler intake air is denser air, providing more oxygen per unit volume. The polished aluminum intake tube complements the carbon fiber structure in both function and appearance.
Performance and Installation
The SF Intake is designed to work with a Cobb Accessport OTS map calibrated specifically for the SF intake configuration — the calibration accounts for the improved airflow characteristics, MAF position in the new tube, and the change in intake air temperature behavior. Installing the SF intake with the correct Accessport SF intake map produces a validated system where hardware and calibration work together, and the full improvement in throttle response and power delivery is realized from the first drive.
