The SF Airbox surrounds the cone filter in a sealed structure that draws cold air from outside the engine bay heat zone, and the SF intake tube routes that air smoothly to the turbocharger inlet.

SF Airbox Design: Cold Air Path and Thermal Management

The SF Airbox addresses a limitation of open cone filter intakes: while a cone filter provides more surface area than an OEM panel filter, an open cone filter is exposed directly to engine bay heat. During extended driving or track sessions, the engine bay temperature rises significantly, and an open cone filter draws increasingly warm air into the intake tract. The SF Airbox encloses the cone filter in a sealed structure with a cold-air inlet that draws air from outside the hot engine bay zone, combining the airflow capacity of the cone filter with better thermal isolation than an open intake.

Airbox + Intake as a System with Accessport Calibration

The SF Intake + Airbox package is designed to be used with the Cobb Accessport SF intake OTS maps — the calibration accounts for the combined airflow characteristics of the SF intake and enclosed airbox. The black coupler between the airbox and intake tube is a visual element that is visible with the hood open. Hardware and couplers for the complete installation are included.
