The Cobb 4-Bar MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor for the 2002-2007 Subaru WRX replaces the factory 3-bar MAP sensor with a 4-bar unit capable of reading boost pressures up to approximately 43.5 psi (3 bar gauge) — well beyond what the factory sensor can accurately report. For high-boost builds where manifold pressure exceeds the factory sensor’s range, the 4-bar sensor provides accurate boost data that the Accessport and ProTuner calibration requires.

4-Bar vs 3-Bar MAP Sensor: Extending Accurate Boost Reading Range
The factory 3-bar MAP sensor accurately reads boost up to approximately 29 psi above atmospheric — adequate for stock and mild turbo builds but insufficient for high-boost applications. When manifold pressure exceeds the sensor’s range, the ECU receives incorrect pressure data, making accurate boost control and fueling impossible. The 4-bar sensor extends the accurate reading range to cover the boost pressures that high-power turbo builds require.
Installation, Adapter Requirements, and Accessport Configuration
The sensor-only listing is for builds that already have the adapter installed or are using a custom adapter. Requires the correct adapter for the specific intake manifold application.
