The ARD front splitter for the BMW G87 M2 is a CFD-developed, track-tested prepreg carbon fiber assembly engineered by ADRO Racing Division as the foundational element of the ARD Aero Package. It features upper vanes, lower strakes, F1-inspired endplates, and a raised central section with six mid-floor undervanes that feeds clean flow to the rear diffuser and reduces pitch sensitivity. Produced in prepreg carbon fiber for consistent stiffness and zero flex under sustained aero load.

ADRO ARD Carbon Front Splitter for G87 BMW M2

Most front splitters are flat panels with end plates; they generate downforce by creating a pressure differential between the top and bottom surface, and that’s where the engineering stops. The ARD front splitter for the BMW G87 M2 is not that. It is the first element of a coherent aerodynamic system developed from the ground up by the ADRO Racing Division, the same engineering program that brought Formula 1 aerodynamic development methods to production car aftermarket parts. Scott, ARD’s Head of Aerodynamics, carries an F1 development background into every ARD project. The G87 M2 front splitter is developed through CFD simulation first, then track-tested before it reaches a customer; the same process used to develop aero packages for the top tiers of motorsport, applied to a production-based track car. Every structural element in the splitter assembly is there because the simulation showed it needed to be there.

What is ARD?

  • ADRO’s motorsport engineering program, ARD (ADRO Racing Division), is built for drivers who demand more from their car on track. Every ARD component is developed the same way motorsport aerodynamics are: CFD simulation and track-tested before anything reaches a customer. Scott, ADRO’s Head of Aerodynamics, brings an F1 development background to every ARD project. The G87 M2 ARD Aero Package is one of the first full systems to come out of that program.

Features

  • Developed by ARD (ADRO Racing Division), led by an engineer with an F1 aerodynamic development background
  • CFD simulation developed and track-tested before delivery
  • Upper vanes generate and power vortex structures under the splitter endplate tunnels
  • Lower strakes control lateral outwash and maximize the splitter’s effective working area
  • F1-inspired endplates initiate vortex generation down the car’s sides; work with the ARD side skirts as part of an integrated system
  • Raised central section with six mid-floor undervanes; delivers clean flow to the rear diffuser and reduces pitch sensitivity
  • Part of the ARD Aero Package for the BMW G87 M2; designed to work as an integrated system with the ARD side skirts and rear diffuser
  • Produced in prepreg carbon fiber; consistent resin distribution throughout for maximum stiffness, minimum weight, and no delamination under sustained aero loads

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is ARD and how is it different from standard ADRO products? ARD stands for ADRO Racing Division; it is ADRO’s dedicated motorsport engineering program. ARD components are developed using CFD simulation and track-tested before reaching customers, under the direction of Scott, ADRO’s Head of Aerodynamics, who brings an F1 development background to the program. The G87 M2 ARD Aero Package is one of the first complete systems to come out of the program. ARD components are produced in prepreg carbon fiber and are engineered as integrated aerodynamic systems, as distinct from ADRO’s standard street aero product lines.
  • What does the raised central splitter section with six mid-floor undervanes do? The raised central section manages the airflow feeding into the floor of the car. It channels clean, organized airflow to the six mid-floor undervanes, which accelerate and direct that flow toward the rear diffuser. The raised geometry also dramatically reduces pitch sensitivity; the tendency of a splitter to produce different downforce numbers under braking versus acceleration versus steady-state cornering, which makes aero balance harder to predict. The ARD central section was specifically developed to minimize that variability.
  • What does the 2,555N (574lbs) downforce figure refer to? This figure refers to the complete ARD Aero Package for the G87 M2 at 180 km/h; not the front splitter alone. The complete package represents a 1,254% increase over the stock M2’s 189N, with a gain of 2,366N (532lbs). The front splitter is the foundational element of that system and is engineered to work in conjunction with the ARD side skirts and rear diffuser to achieve that combined figure.
  • Why does ARD use prepreg carbon fiber rather than other carbon construction methods? Prepreg uses resin pre-impregnated into the fiber under controlled conditions, producing consistent resin distribution throughout the part. Wet-layup carbon relies on manual resin application, which can result in resin-rich areas or dry spots that reduce stiffness and create potential delamination points under sustained load. A splitter that flexes under aerodynamic load does not produce the downforce the CFD predicted; the part’s stiffness is integral to its aerodynamic performance. Prepreg eliminates that variable and ensures the part delivers consistent performance across all conditions.
  • Does the ARD front splitter work on its own, or does it need the rest of the ARD package? The ARD front splitter is engineered as the foundational element of a complete aerodynamic system. It generates and manages vortex structures that the ARD side skirts and rear diffuser depend on, and the central section is designed to feed clean airflow to the rear diffuser specifically. Installing the front splitter without corresponding rear elements will change the aerodynamic balance of the car; as the ARD design philosophy states, you maximize the front and then set the balance with the rear wing. For the full aerodynamic benefit, the splitter is intended to be deployed as part of the complete ARD package.

About ADRO

Founded in 2020, Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization (ADRO) is dedicated to delivering premium aerodynamic body kits. The company was born from the shared passion for racing of its co-founders, CEO Dongwan Yoo and CTO Sean Yoon, who connected through a mutual friend in 2010 and bonded over their love for race cars. Over several years, they perfected their craft by creating custom body kits for KDMs as a hobby. As demand for their work grew, they established ADRO to expand their offerings. ADRO’s high-quality products are designed in California and meticulously manufactured in South Korea
