The ARD quad canards for the BMW G87 M2 are four CFD-developed prepreg carbon fiber canards that manage vortex structures and contain front wheel turbulence to protect underbody flow for the ARD Aero Package system.
ADRO ARD Carbon Canards for G87 BMW M2
Canards are one of the most visually recognizable elements in motorsport aerodynamics; and one of the most frequently added to aftermarket builds without any real purpose. On most kits, they generate marginal front downforce and function primarily as visual signals that a car is serious. ADRO’s motorsport engineering program, ARD (ADRO Racing Division), developed the quad canards for the BMW G87 M2 to do something specific: manage the vortex structures initiated by the ARD front splitter and contain the aerodynamic disruption that comes from the front wheels.
What is ARD?
- ADRO’s motorsport engineering program, ARD (ADRO Racing Division), is built for drivers who demand more from their car on track. Every ARD component is developed the same way motorsport aerodynamics are: CFD simulation and track-tested before anything reaches a customer. Scott, ADRO’s Head of Aerodynamics, brings an F1 development background to every ARD project. The G87 M2 ARD Aero Package is one of the first full systems to come out of that program.
Features
- Quad canard configuration; four canards in a stacked, sequenced arrangement that builds vortex strength as the structures travel rearward
- Engineered to contain front wheel turbulence and prevent high-pressure rotating wheel air from spilling inboard across the underbody
- Sustains a clean working environment for the ARD mid-floor undervanes and rear diffuser, keeping the floor operating at higher efficiency
- Works in conjunction with the ARD front splitter endplates as part of the complete ARD Aero Package vortex management strategy
- CFD-developed by ADRO’s motorsport engineering program under the direction of Scott, ARD’s Head of Aerodynamics, who brings an F1 development background to every ARD project
- Track-tested before delivery; every ARD component is CFD-simulated and validated on track before reaching a customer
- Produced in prepreg carbon fiber; consistent resin distribution throughout for maximum stiffness; holds angle of attack under sustained aerodynamic load without flexing
- Includes 2 LH and 2 RH prepreg canards and rivets

Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes the ARD quad canards different from standard aftermarket canards? Most aftermarket canards are aesthetic additions that generate marginal front downforce through a simple pressure differential. The ARD quad canards for the G87 M2 are developed by ADRO’s motorsport engineering program to perform a specific aerodynamic function: managing the vortex structures initiated by the ARD front splitter and containing the turbulent air thrown inboard by the rotating front wheels. The quad configuration; four canards in a stacked, sequenced arrangement; is designed to build vortex strength as the structures travel rearward, creating a sustained airflow curtain between the splitter endplates and the front wheel arches.
- Why does front wheel turbulence matter so much for underbody downforce? The front wheels generate high-pressure, turbulent air as they rotate at speed, throwing it outward and upward. If that air spills inboard across the underbody, it reduces the pressure differential driving the floor’s downforce and degrades the efficiency of every downstream element; particularly the mid-floor undervanes and rear diffuser. The ARD canards are positioned to contain that disruption at its source, keeping the underbody’s working environment clean and the floor operating closer to its designed efficiency throughout a lap.
- What does the 2,555N downforce figure refer to? That figure refers to the complete ARD Aero Package for the G87 M2 at 180 km/h; not the canards alone. The complete system represents a 1,254% increase over the stock M2’s 189N. The canards are one of several contributing elements; their function within the system is primarily airflow management rather than direct downforce generation.
- Why does prepreg matter specifically for canards? A canard’s aerodynamic function depends entirely on its angle of attack; the angle at which it meets the airflow. A canard that flexes under aerodynamic load changes that angle, which changes the vortex it generates and degrades the airflow management it was designed to deliver. Prepreg carbon fiber holds geometry under sustained aerodynamic load without flexing, so the canard produces the same vortex structures at the end of a session as it does at the beginning.
- What is included with the ARD quad canards? Each set includes 2 left-hand and 2 right-hand prepreg carbon fiber canards, plus rivets for installation.
About ADRO
Founded in 2020, Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization (ADRO) is dedicated to delivering premium aerodynamic body kits. The company was born from the shared passion for racing of its co-founders, CEO Dongwan Yoo and CTO Sean Yoon, who connected through a mutual friend in 2010 and bonded over their love for race cars. Over several years, they perfected their craft by creating custom body kits for KDMs as a hobby. As demand for their work grew, they established ADRO to expand their offerings. ADRO’s high-quality products are designed in California and meticulously manufactured in South Korea
