The 4-pad rigid disc uses the same ceramic friction material and chrome-moly hub construction as the 6-pad, with four pads instead of six. The reduced total friction pad area compared to the 6-pad means the 4-pad runs slightly cooler in sustained use, on smaller disc diameters, the 4-pad is the preferred configuration because the smaller disc has less surface area to dissipate heat.
The rigid hub construction means no dampening between the disc and the transmission input shaft. Engagement is immediate and shifts are as fast as the driveline allows. The Xtreme pressure plate’s maximum clamp load ensures this disc does not slip under any EJ-series power level.
