The OEM plastic pipe between the MAF sensor and the turbocharger inlet is a restriction point in the FA24WGT intake path — the GrimmSpeed aluminum replacement opens this restriction and reduces heat absorption.

The FA24WGT’s factory post-MAF pipe is plastic — a cost-managed OEM component. Plastic absorbs engine bay heat more readily than aluminum and provides less precise internal geometry under boost pressure.
